MOPS at Creekside
By Jenny Dunn
MOPS, Mothers of Pre-Schoolers, has been a ministry at Creekside for 10 years! The mission of MOPS is multifold. We help meet practical needs for moms in the little years, providing a space for moms to rest, recharge, connect with each other, be encouraged, and be filled up (with food, caffeine, practical help, laughter, and Christ himself). Women have described our group as a "sanctuary" for them and a place of "light and life." Our mission is more than meeting practical needs though. We exist to welcome the mom new to Gainesville and the mom that won't walk in a church on a Sunday morning, but is willing to join us. Though we are not a Bible study, we want to share our stories, testimonies, the Word of God, and the Gospel through the devotions and Spring Brunch for the sake of building up those who are part of the church and especially for reaching those who do not know and follow Jesus.
This year in MOPS, we have already seen moms who are brand new to town form genuine friendships at their table. Moms who are struggling with the difficulties of motherhood, have been encouraged, prayed for, and have heard "me too." Moms who were far from Jesus and hurt by the church, we pray are getting closer.
At first glance, this may seem very ordinary, but as Christians we understand the deep relationships and the fruit that can grow from this simple act of gathering around a table together. MOPS cannot continue without the support of Creekside women. If you are a mom of young children, we would love for you to join us on Wednesdays bimonthly this fall. You may feel that you have community within the church, but MOPS provides an opportunity for you to BE community to other women.
As a church, please pray that God would sustain and guide the new leadership team for MOPS, as many of them are brand-new to this mission. Pray for the women who attend MOPS, that they might see the truth of the gospel and come to know Jesus. If you have questions or would like to join MOPS in September of 2022, please email Jenny Dunn at JennyLin44@gmail.com.
