VBS 2021
By Nina Spencer
It is hard to believe that June has arrived, and we are once again preparing for Vacation Bible School! Last year, with all the COVID precautions in place, we decided it would be best to have a virtual VBS. It was definitely a different experience and many families gathered in small groups to make it more fun, but it still was not the same as having an in-person VBS.
This year we are excited to announce we will be returning to in-person VBS! Mark your calendars for Destination Dig, July 26-30 from 9:00 to noon! The children will head to present-day Israel where discovery awaits. Kids will unearth more than dirt as they dig up exciting evidence that proves biblical events were not just stories. As junior archaeologists, kids will explore real-life archaeological finds that have helped to uncover the truth about Jesus! Along the way they will discover the truth of Jeremiah 29:13, that God reveals Himself to us when we seek and search for Him with all our hearts.
We desire to make this VBS special and a celebration of being able to return to in-person activities, including Bible stories, games, crafts, and yummy snacks! We all enjoy VBS week and the fellowship and activities that bring us together as a church; it is a wonderful way to reconnect with Creekside friends and reach out to the community. Many children have accepted Christ or deepened their walk with Christ because of their VBS experiences.
Volunteers have told me repeatedly how much they enjoy VBS week. They love interacting with the children and the fellowship time with other adults in the church family. There is always excitement in the air! Our teen helpers especially delight in their time together. Many of our participants from other churches have returned when they are too old be a participant; they want to assist with VBS as a teen helper because they enjoyed it so much.
Another exciting part of VBS is that we typically have different ethnic groups from all over this county participating. It is a great opportunity and experience for both adults and kids to work together with individuals from all different backgrounds. This year very few churches are having an in-person VBS, giving us a unique opportunity to reach out to the kids in our community who have had a very difficult year.
To make our VBS a successful community outreach and a wonderful experience for our church family, you are essential! Please consider the following ways you can help and sign up today!
